The thrill of giving
I got a call from the SHU Annual Fund last night. Since graduating in 2007, I sort of dreaded these calls because I felt bad. Given: I used to be a student ambassador and at one point was calling alums to ask for money. I've seen both sides of the equation.
Last night I found an alternative to the sides I'd previously experienced. A sweet girl named Chelsea called me and we chatted for awhile. I told her my new address, about my new job, and then it struck me--when she asked if I'd like to give, I could say "yes" because 1) I have a real income and 2) my company does matching funds.
Wow. I got kind of excited. :)
And then I asked her to make a notation of who I'd like to spend my money: my beloved student publications.

Karissa, that was me! You'll be getting a receipt and a card from me soon. Thank you so much for being my first "giver" for the night!
