Ah-ha! Post-midterm chaos

Okay, so it now appears to me that my "Obligatory Midterm Freak-Out" entry was really unnecessary. THIS week is the true crunch time of the semester. Oh, this week and the following month. I cannot believe the amount of work that I have to complete over the next five weeks. It's ridiculous.

I'm feeling rather miserable about the quantity of work that is hanging over my head. Sometimes, I just can't figure out how I do it. I live in a state of constant stress, but there are those especially bad periods, such as right now, when I can't brush my teeth without gagging. Oh, the fun physical recations to stress! But anyway, whatever. I'll survive. As bad as things are right now, they could be a lot worse.

And fortunately, there are some good things to pick me up. For one, I discovered this morning that my blog has attracted a non-SHU reader other than UPG's infamous Katie (greetings, CJ!).

Also, Halloween is this weekend! Although I will not have the opportunity to make the voyage to Ohio University for the campus-wide Halloween bash, I will be dressing up and having fun in the burgh of either Pitt or Green. I'm going as a mod hipster this year; I can hardly wait. I finally decided on this after buying three hair pieces/wigs for other potential costumes. The mod look beat out the Satanic cheerleader costume, but only because I couldn't find a red and black uniform.

I also heard that the SHU library is showing Rocky Horror Friday night. I may have to drive up Friday after work so that Kim Pennesi and I can do the "Time Warp" for everyone.

Anyway, what are your Halloween plans? Take a break from all of your school work, dress up, and go have fun.

Satanic cheerleader, eh? That would be amusing. I could take a picture for the comedy issue if you would like. Arnzen seems to think that I should submit only of my blog entries. Check it out and let me know what you think.

(I don't have a class, so I don't get free advertising on the nmj site, but I do have a blog)

V and I went to a Halloween shindig last weekend as a Gap ad. We dressed in khaki's and white polo shirts and held shopping bags.

We didn't do a dance number, sadly.

I thought it was cute; Vandye wasn't sold on it.

Clearly, I couldn't be bothered to purchase or put time into a costume...

Bah, working ALL weekend, and class till late on Thursday (when my cousins and little-kid friends will be all dressed up), so that means my "costume" consists of a red and black tshirt with "Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat!" on it (courtesy of Rue 21 for $7) and red devil horns. Creative black eyeliner and sparkly eye makeup will probably also factor in somewhere. I'm bummed I can't do anything; it's my favorite holiday!

Brian, I'm not longer going as a Satanic cheerleader, but you can take a picture of me as a goofy mod! Whee, I'm so excited.

Julie: you should have carried around a boombox playing Depeche Mode's "Just Can't Get Enough." That was the best Gap ad campaign EVER.

Katie, even if you're bogged down with school, you should still dress up! I was going to come to school on Friday in my Halloween costume, but I'm going to a party Saturday night, so I'll reserve the full costume for that. I may, however, break out my purple wig, and I'm going to wear my "Batitude" tee. Target, $5. Mwah ha, I beat you in the cheap Halloween tee contest!

Oh, and where are you working now, Katie? Did you get a second job?

Posted by: Kate Cielinski at October 29, 2003 10:20 AM

Ooh, nope no second job, but I'm doing some extra work for a Bar Mitzvah. It should actually be a lot of fun, they're having a luncheon followed by a party with a DJ. The guy keeps telling me, "Don't worry, you'll be here all day but we'll take care of you - we'll have a TON of food." He's apparently getting a bunch of stuff from Squirrel Hill. The family's REALLY nice, so I don't mind spending a Saturday - plus, it's work!

DARN, you *did* beat me in the cheap tees contest! ;) I'll be back next year, BUAHA! Yeah, I just plan on wearing that and the horns to school Friday, and spoiling the play cast with any extra treats I have from Thursday.

Katie,
you pretty much hit the nail on the head! Its a crazy house around here. But hey, dont let it get you down girl. Something good to report is that there is Halloween party on Halloween from 10:30-2. Its in Lowe Dining Hall (which I think is little rudiculous. I mean, I dont want to be eating lunch and remembering that just the night before 2 people we grind dancing on the desserts table. Thats not exactly the greatest thought to have while Im trying to eat a piece of cake. LOL). But hey, maybe we can have some fun. Think of it as a stress releaser.

Oh goodness Kate,
Your claim of ultimate-supremo bargain shoppage is weak. You HAVE to check out the little Halloween leftovers section at Old Navy. Their tees are 50 cents. Plus they have funky hats, vibrating pumpkins, and trendy plastic bags for people so addicted to Old Navy that they can't just use a pillow case for trick-or-treating. My favorites last year were the tins of chocolate flavored mints.

OK Kate, so I am a little late on the plans thing but I had an amazing weekend! I went Trick-or-Treating for Unicef on Friday night, Saturday I spent all day doing math homework (blah) and then Sunday I got to see my boyfriend which was really cool. But, I also had to deal with my boyfriends parents. Apparently they seem to think that it is too stressful from him to have a girlfriend right now and that he and I were just a spur of the moment thing and we don't know each other very well. They have been trying to break us up since last week and he has been fighting with them all since last Sunday. OH WELL! BTW! I agree with you on the work load amount...This month is going to be insanity!
