Despite the fact that this blog was never approved by a scholarly review board or even by peers or professors, I receive numerous comments asking for further advice and research on the topics I've discussed. This blog is a fairly informal journal documenting my response to a variety of texts I read during my final year as an undergraduate. If you are using this blog for research purposes (which I would highly discourage), PLEASE do not comment on this blog and ask me to provide more information. I am NOT an expert on the subjects discussed within, and I don't have the time to do someone else's work.
I am, however, a very busy graduate student who can give you some good advice: go directly to the source. If you're looking for more information on horror films or literary theory, I suggest you check out the primary source(s) -- George Romero, Julia Kristeva, Karl Marx, etc. They're your best resources. And if you want GOOD resources, you'll have to move beyond Google. Trust me.
If you have a question or comment that does not involve me doing work for you, feel free to e-mail me at kcielins @ andrew.cmu.edu

You did a good job phrasing that.
It's pleasant to get a "thank you" from a thoughtful reader who learned something from what you wrote, but answering the direct questions for basic information is often enabling the lazy.
Posted by: Dennis G. Jerz at December 6, 2005 9:28 AMBut you ARE an expert on this gory stuff, Kate! :-) And as an English grad, you better get used to people asking for help. As an English graduate, you'll be asked to spell check other people's writing, asked grammar questions on the fly, and be expected to get every Shakespeare reference ever dropped in a film or book or TV show for the rest of your life. I think it's good to add questions about zombies and blood to that repetoire.

Posted by: Mike Arnzen at December 7, 2005 12:13 AMIf you saw these questions, you'd understand. I realize that since I am an English major, the entire world expects me to know every single thing about the written word, but I don't think it's fair that I should be obligated to impart my knowledge upon lazy individuals. I'd welcome thoughtful questions and critiques, but I haven't received any of those thus far.
