Wildcard: My favorite movies...

I may be an English major, but movies have always been a passion for me. I
love watching films & it's always been a secret dream of mine to write and direct someday; it'll probably never happen, but I have some great ideas rattling around in this head of mine.

I worked in a video store for two years, so I suppose I'm a connoisseur of sorts; my friends tease me that I could have a whole conversation using movie lines. Movie (like books) are an escape for me...I can go into whole different worlds for two hours and forget all the stress I have in my life. I've dabbled in theater, so I think that may have something to do with my obsession, but whatever the reason, I love films.

I don't have just one favorite movie, as you might have guessed, so here's a list of my favorite films...let me know if anyof you has seen any of these!!

The Crow
The Wizard of Oz
Moulin Rouge
Gone in 60 Seconds
The Virgin Suicides
Dogma
ANY Stephen King film (I collect them!)

Told you there was a lot!! I tend to enjoy odd films...I'm a closet-goth at times. Hope you enjoy learning about these movies!!

Katie,

I have never watched any of those movies that you have mentioned; however I have heard of them. I like movies, too. I basically like comedies, action, suspense and animated. Some thriller movies are alright too. If you have any suggestions, of which movies to watch, then let me know.

Lamb,

Like Nabila.... I have never seen any of those movies. Well, parts of the Wiz, and today, Carrie. But, other than that, zero. We will have to have an SHU movie night sometime! That would be awesome. Of all the listed movies, which is the all time favorite?

:)

Take it easy,
Katie

Katie,

I would say my favorite movie of all time would be "A Christmas Story." That's the best movie, because I watch it every year and I never get tired of watching it. My sisters enjoy it as well. It's so funny. If you have watched this movie, then you will know what I mean. It comes every year in December on TV. Also I like Home Alone 1 and Home Alone 2. There the best quality holiday movies.

Take care

Katie,
I think my favoritest (I know that's not a real word, but I'm an English major & have the right to make up words) movie would be "The Crow"; I collect Crow memorabilia, so I have posters and pictures and snowglobes and wine glasses and a million other items. All the movies I posted about have their own "personality" and tell a little bit about me. I'm just a complex person, I guess. :-D

The Virgin Suicides was a good film, but then I love Kirsten Dunst, so I'm biased. LOL. My favorite movies would most likely include....

A Clockwork Orange
Blade Runner
The Exorcist
The Road Warrior
Brazil
Threads
Metropolis (Silent)
Blue Velvet
Full Metal Jacket
The Matrix Series
Farenheit 9/11
Apocalypse Now

But then.. theres seriously HUNDREDS. ;-)~

Go Mike! Those are GREAT films! It's nice to see someone else has a "twisted" taste in movies. "Full Metal Jacket" is another classic film that I love, BTW.

LOL.. Thanks! It's funny though.. even with all the stuff I've seen or loved, "Titanic" still makes me cry for hours. I'm not allowed to watch it on my own! LOL. Yeah. Let's pretend I didn't say that, and I'll give you a few more...

Watership Down (Animated)
Lolita
Easy Rider
Taxi Driver
Sid and Nancy
Close Encounters
Repo Man
American Beauty

If I know I'm going to watch a movie that makes me cry, I refuse to watch it. I won't watch Titanic again or Here on Earth. Moulin Rouge is a sob movie, so I always turn it off before the end; I make quite a few people angry when I won't finish a movie. :-) Since you added some, here some of my other favs. BTW, Lolita and American Beauty kicks so much a**...

Rocky Horror Picture Show
The One
The Life of David Gale
Kill Bill Vol. 1
Underworld (I'm a vampire at heart...fear me!!)
Jerry Maguire (so romantic!!)
The Butterfly Effect
The Grudge (go see it!!)

Holy Crap! I totally missed this little interesting tidbit of fun movie talk. Katie L. rocks my socks...since ya know we all grew up together...anywho, this are my absolute faves:

-The Breakfast Club - sorry, nothing beats 1980 teen angst. This movie is my untouchable. ;)
-Almost Famous
-Moulin Rouge (for I too cry like a baby.)
-A Walk to Remember (see above)
-Dumb and Dumber
-Spaceballs
-All the National Lampoon "Vacations"
-Crazy/Beautiful

I'm a sucker for old 70 movies and natural disaster movies I.E. The Day After Tomorrow, The Core, Deep Impact, Armegeddon, Twister, Volcano, The Towering Inferno, Earthquake, ect. =)

Ok, I'm shuttin up now...

And BTW Mike...Metropolis was a wicked awesome movie!
