From Fly Girls to Bitches and Hos

I believe that the norm these days for music (mostly rap, hip hop and starting to become more in rock) industry is talking about bitches, hos, drugs, chronic, and shootin somebody. The main concern in this article are females being used as nothing but sex symbols. I believe that this is true. There was an incident in NYC a few years back at a Puetro Rican festival when men bombarded women with water and tried to rip their clothes off, a news article said that a few women were raped. So obviously some men take what these rappers say seriously. Snoop Dog seems to be the popular one these days when it comes to discussing bitches and chronic. I admit I like Snoop Dog, I listen to rap, that may seem hard to believe, but its true. Anyway rappers seem to be not taking women seriouly as human beings, and have no repect for them. And to be honest some women want the attention so they just let this happen which might cost them their lives one day.

Question of Conquence:

If rappers keep discussing women as sex symbols and some of those women that do act like sex symbols. Women might have a rough time in the future just living normal lives. Some might even end up dead if rappers don't take responsibility for what they say.

I agree with you on the fact that in todays society the "bitches and hos" have become the norm. From my perspective that many guys often believe that is how all women act and that they are all pimps and players. But if you turn it around... Us LADIES see a lot of men as being no good, won't stick to their word because they are all wrapped up in the world of rap. So I think that in the end, men see all women as being often inferior because we are these symbols of sex etc etc, but we see men for only how they act, and we are guilty of grouping them as they group us. So to go back to your agenda item...yeah women will always have trouble taking a stand for something.

Good observation, I never even thought of it that way. But some guys are good guys and some girls are good girls. I guess it is just the way the sexes view the opposite sex.

I completely agree with Jen's comment. Men think of Woman as Bitches and hoes, but women also think of men as no good... I know I have said that all guys are jerks which is not exactly true. The only thing is, is that its "ok" for guys to be pimps and players, but its not ok for a girl to be a slut or a whore... I think its not ok for either personally

I agree 100%. Especially on the fact that the media has a huge impact on how we view ourselves.

It's fashionable for a man to be a "pimp" or "player," but God forbid a woman try to keep a relationship going by giving the man the only thing he wants.

You know what I say, if a guy can't respect you for who you are and see beauty in being with you, then he doesn't deserve what he wants. I know women that have been socially beaten down to the point where they don't respect themselves as a person. A woman is more than her body; most guys are just too immature to know this.

I think this conflit will never end. Rap has its meaning, however a majority of rap does call women bitches and hoes. Do women fight back however? No you dont see the women feminist group helping our minority women do you? Women in the clubs dispite the words listen to the music, and sing the songs. Now is it the rappers fault. No for we all have our own mind don't we. Now if we choose to listen, copy and mimic becuase the life style seems so good thats no ones fault but that individuals. The women in the puerto rican parade in i think either 2000, or 2001, that was wrong. Dont blame it on rap because some men are dogs. Blame it on the ones with no lifes, and no respect for others.

Fly-Firls to Bitches and Hos by joan morgan
well i would have to say that women put themselves out in the open just as much as the men who says these benighted things towards women like every female should know that as long as the male rappers and other entertainers are saying these things about women but on the other hand when women are still going to the concerts and still dancing for the men and buying the records their going to still going to sell and now a days sex sells and men look at women as a sex symbol and everyone must understand that there will always be that one or to women that's down to do what ever and that's what keeps them going
