Term Project Progress Report
For the term project for Writing for the Internet, I am making an introduction website for the information and stories about Nigeria scammers. I will collect the scamming organization's information form internet as much as I can as well of the information of this country.
So far I did not have a very legible opinion, but the draft is:
- Use my own story as the instruction, which will be the homepage.
- Provide quotation from other people to this scammer.
- Give further information about Nigeria.
Hopefully, it will look good.
This sounds interesting.. and I am interested to see what you come up with! I will look over it in class if you need someone to. I'm not sure I fully understand the idea of the webpage but I was there on that unfortunate day when you got ripped off by a Nigerian scammer on paypal. Sad. And obviously it made you mad enough and stuck with you to make a website out of it. Maybe this guy will see it someday and realize what he did!
Anyway, good luck :)
Wow, Aero. I hope your page somehow finds its way back to those Nigerian scammers. Just a thought, but did you consider expanding to just scammers in general? Sure, the Nigerians seem to have ripped you off pretty badly, but I know from prior experience that there are tons of scammers similar to them on ebay. It's kinda a regular occurance. You should look for other testimonials of people who have been paypal scammed.
I know that there are whole websites devoted just to explaining the different scams that come out of Nigeria, especially the 419 scam. You could definitely check those out as well for some resources if you need more places to start.
I also think those websites have forums, if you want to interview some people who are more familiar with how the different scams work.
Yes, echoing what Christina said -- you should think about linking to resources that already deal with the scams. Here's one....

Note also that the whole country of Nigeria isn't involved in the scam, so it's probably better to focus on the Nigerian scammers, not Nigeria as a whole.
another suggestion would be to include the origins of the scam, the creator, what people are doing (if anything) to control it legality-wise, how does it work, things to watch out for. Good for you for using a personal experience to benefit others.
A recent news story on a different scam...

To Anne:
Yes, it did. I will certainly stick in this website!
To jess:
Thank you for your suggestion, but I think go by one special case might be more powerful than just say something in general.
To Chirstina:
Oh, I see. Thank you for that information!
To Dani:
I will provide all my information, which are the email from the scammer, ebay.com, state police, and the Nigeria embassy in DC. Thank you for your suggestion.
To Dr. Jerz:
Thanks again for your information.
