The way in which this book looks at the language of journalism is extremely helpful when put in an ordered format. Anything and everything that has developed its own language has its bad characteristics. That doesn't mean that we can change that though. By focusing on these main points, we can help to improve the art of journalism. If this can be done, then the public will perhaps trust the media more as opposed to simply picking out its flaws. Without these basic components in a journalistic article, the article ceases to be journalism.

Excellent point, Maddie! Those are some great points for an overview of what journalism is and what journalists must strive to accomplish in their articles. Like you said, if all journalists kept these ideas in mind when writing, perhaps we wouldn't have such a negative view of the media.
I am not sure if I buy your statement "That doesn't mean that we can change that", talking about the language of journalism. Look at unique writers such as Hunter S. Thompson and Walter Kronkite. These men changed the face of journalism by coming up with their own styles and buzz words. I am not saying that we can change the world, just make a difference in it.
If we focus on these few main points, then we can change the reputation that journalists have. The public doesn't trust us at this point. If we can use language, and focus on the concrete and the specific, then society won't have as skewed of an opinion of news writers.
