Learning to Read

This Article was writen by Malcolm X and he talks about how he never knew how to read and frustrating that was for him. so Malcolm taught himself. He talks about how he couldnt get enough of books. Teaching yourself how to read must not be easy. Malcolm X is not as luck as people today because most people are taught how to read. If I didnt know how to read I dont know what I would do because everything intails reading. Malcolm X is a pretty cool guy.

Idiot Nation

Idiot Nation was written by Michael Moore. Its an Article on Education. He talks about how there isnt enough money in Libraries especially school libraries. He talks about how the Government is taking out funding for libraries. He also talks about how everyone is illiterate and noone knows simple things they should. But you can ask someone any question about sports and they know the answer.

sarcasm uh oh!

After reading seven-lesson schoolteacher I realized that Gatto was only being sarcastic about what he was saying. He was saying that kids are only a number and that noone has any privacy. He was also being sarcastic when he said that kids dont have the freedom of free-speach. I strongly agree with Gatto that thats how its turning out.

The Seven-Lesson School teacher

John Taylor Gatto wrote this Article about Seven hidden lessons in the curriculum of schools these days. He talks about how it all got taken over by the Government and that we arent taught reading writing and arithmatic anymore, that there is more to it. At least that it what I got out of all the big words.

James McBride Lecture

I went to the James McBride lecture on tuesday September 14th. I was really excited because it was a really good book and my friends and I sat front row. Luckily it wasnt boring! James is a really funny guy and everything I wanted to know he answered! The only thing that really stunk was that the seats were so uncomfortable! I was really happy that he was signing books afterwards! My roomate was unable to attend the lecture so I brought her book and got it signed for her. My friends and I were towards the front of the line to get our books signed but then these two ladies cut in front of us and I was mad. It was awesome anyway!
