Different life same idea

As I was reading Emerson and Dickinson I really enjoyed the topic of nature.  What I learned from Pod Cast 8 was that these two lived and wrote at the same time but lived such different lives.

Emerson traveled, spoke to the public and had a group of men that he met with about writing and breaking away from England.  While Dickinson didn't leave her house, had limited contact with anyone but her family and didn't have any of her work published until she had passed.  But they both wrote about nature using metaphors and abstract in such a open minded way.

It's interesting to look at how each person was raised. Emily Dickinson was very secluded and separate from her family, and Emerson was raised mainly by females. Could these atypical ways of being raised have influenced there transcendentalist ways of thinking?
