I was in a car accident over the weekend to please forgive the briefness of this entry.
I really believe that Rip Van Winkle is an unhappy, not lazy, man who merely tries to avoid his unhappy situation by helping others. Because I have read this story before, it is amazing to me how amusing this story. I was laughing at several points in the story.
One of my favorite parts of the story is when Rip's daughter begins to claim him, but he has to ask, "What of your mother?". That statement is so funny. It is almost as if he would rather be lost than claim his daughter if he has to deal with his wife.
