At the beginning of the semester I was kind of upset because I was scheduled to take a newswriting course when I did not plan to write for the news paper or even report news. After taking the class I started to see how important the little things are and how much more I learned by taking this class. You'd think that from the title of the course you would only learn about news and all that stuff and it may even seem uninteresting...but the truth is...you learn SO much and it helps A LOT! I am grateful for this course and all of the things I learned and am taking away from it. We read a book and blog about it almost every day, this is just another place we fina all of that new information! Blogging about it helps get it into our heads and compehend it as well as give our own opinions and comment on our peers'.

Timeliness: From the way you described this catagory...I guess I dont really have any. I either did mine too late and nobody had time to comment on them or they just werent good enough for people to give an input. Sorry.

Wildcard: I never actually did a wildcard entry. Honestly it was tough for me to get use to this and even after that I wasnt really sure what else to write about, therefore there is no wildcard blog. But now that the semester is over I think I might blog about the "END".

Chapter eleven was very interesting. It talked about honest writing. It lists four supporting strategies, one is to be unobtrusive, two is to make sure that stories ring true, third is to make sure that stories check out, and forth is to report and write with humility.
It says the plagiarism is the unoriginal sin. It says there is one sacred rule of journalism. The writer must not invent and must not lift from another writer or publication without giving proper credit. It tells us almost all of the things that cause plagiarism. What causes it is laziness, sloppy work habits, deadline pressure, writers block, temporary-or-chronic emotional problems, a conscious or unconscious desire to be punished and many more. Although these are all very true I think you are the main cause of it. You do it yourself. You make the conscious decision not to do you not to do your own work but to take it from someone else's. Those may be the causes, but you are the reason...that is my opinion.
