Breaking News Story:  http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/feedarticle/7325151

This article starts out by filing you in with what happened.  Which is what a breaking news story would be about.  It explains pretty thouroughly exactly what happened.  It tells us when the campus security found the note, it tells us when the lockdown ended.  It seemed to be pretty specific.

Local Story:  http://www.kvia.com/Global/story.asp?S=7913047&nav=AbC0

The local story tells us the overall information we need to know what happened.  Its not too detaialed but is still able to get the point/story across.  This story also tells us the name of the woman arrested but, although the Breaking News story does not.

National Story:  http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-threat22feb22,1,3363022.story

This story talks all about a bunch of other school incidents.  As a matter of fact, St. Peter's incident wasn't even mentioned in the title.  But it is mentioned later on in the story.  It tells enough to understand what happened.  Its a good article to learn about a lot if incidents all at once.

The Setonian's role in dealing with a situation like this could be to send out an alert.  I"m not sure if they can do that but I guess they could and it would help.  Also they could write an article about what to do in situations like this and help people become aware of how serious it is and how aware they should be at all times.  It could help a lot of people out, in times of need.

Article 1 seemed to interest me.  It talked aboutthe fact that editors look for evidence of credibility, authority, and ability with each person they hire.  It said the editors were scared to take a risk because the staff's under budget scrutiny.  Which I didnt even realize was happening.  It also says that the paper will need some innovative construction to survive, which is yet another thing I didnt know.

I also found it to be very inappropriate for this "old guy" (haha) to be telling us about his "fun times" in the back seat of his 1957 Buick. HAHA! I thought that was funny....it made the article a bit more interesting.

A sentence or quote I found kind of interesting was "We can't foresee a last lesson as long as journalism lives."  I took that as...the work for the paper is never done.  Or something.

Article 3 also caught my interest more than any other.  This article talks about how to make papers local, or more local.  It gives us some practices and attitudes that make these papers "ferociously local".  The first one is "What Makes Local Local".  It said all really long papers write about ordinary people doing ordinary things in their communities.  The bigger newspapers dont see or care about that.  It seems to be not good enough for them.  Local papers dont just report what happens in their towns, they explain it as well.

"Local papers echo with voices if their own readers."  This says that very local papers only show the town to itself, with lots of photographs of ordinary people doing ordinary things.  Theirpictures are also not as professional.  Another one is, "Getting around the town." This tells us that often times, the small, local papers will also print a map of the town to help them get around.  The last one is "Curled Lips Skin Ships" has a quote that says "Local Papers dont regard little people as little." I like that, and it explains a lot.
