Faculty Time Savers Handout

Posted by Michael Arnzen at 18:05 in Praxis.

On Monday afternoon, I led a discussion on "Faculty Time Management" for our campus' Teaching and Learning Forum. Some of the handouts I distributed were tips for saving time in regards to teaching, scholarship, and service. They only scratch the surface in my opinion, but you can download the MS Word document if you like and see if it's helpful to you.

Dr. A:

Thanks for providing the handout. Reading it, of course, spells out that truly keeping track of everything is more difficult--not less--than letting this or that slide a bit.

Or, perhaps, I've simply been procrastinating so long that it's all I know.

So true: "keeping track" can be work. But it's efficiency work -- it's work that you do now that pays off later in time savings. Letting things slide can sometimes have disastrous consequences. But I think we all let things slide ... it's human nature and there's nothing wrong with that!
