Christmas in a Handbag

Well I hope everyone had a great Christmas. I'm sure you all "merry" holidays filled with fun, love, and assorted baked goods. My Christmas went extremely well this year. I had some surprises, some laughs and a whole lotta food. Although for some reason, as soon as the Yule Tide went back to sea, I have been feeling ill and tired. Is this a newly aquired side effect from snorting too much "Sparkle Season"? Or perhaps just body crashing after so many months of nonstop "go-time". Let's explore...

December began with a huge mess of busy-ness for me. I had to spell that differently so it wouldn't come out "business." Anyways, as my first semester of college came to a wonderful close, thanks to my lack of finals and my pleasant grades, I came home to a whole new mess of obligations. Mainly the Cellar Dweller show. While the show went wonderfully, it was physically exhausting, and our irregular practice schedule certainly didn't help. So while I was busy working on this show, I also began working at Toys R' Us. TRU during the holidays is not fun, especially with the asses they currently hired. On top of all this, I had last minute Christmas shopping and family and friends to love and visit. So really my break turned into twice the work college once was.

Not that any of these things are bad-- with the exception of Toys R' Us, which sucked big time-- but I never would have guessed how busy I was going to be when I came home. And these things kept me busier than an old man trying to pick up change-- you know, when he bends over to pick up his change and MORE change falls out of his pocket... yeah I was THAT busy.

But now that Christmas has come and gone faster than I can say "wedding soup with grated parmesean," it appears that I'm crashing harder than a SUV in California. It all began Friday night when I suddenly broke into a cold sweat and almost fainted. From that point on I have been riddled with fatigue, with the occasional stomach pains. I suppose this is what I get for trying to do it all. Or at least trying to mail what would clearly require two stamps in a one-stamp envelope.

And so I veg (if thats how you spell it) out. I put on my brand new Wild Man Blues soundtrack and read my Gabriel Garcia Marquez book, or perhaps I put on the Food Network and fall alseep to the sweet sounds of a dip recipe on Good Eats. Many people tell me I push myself too hard, do too much stuff at once. I tell them they are right. But one of the benefits of doing it my way, is that when you finally do crash, you enjoy the fatigue way more than usual. Oh sweet sloth, you are the cleanest and most relaxing of the seven deadly sins.

PS- On the Weakest Link tonight, a finalist actually answered a question by stating at Tom Clancy wrote Naked Lunch.
