My Poltical Dealings Pt 1
Tomorrow is my gigantic GO-Party, and already I am thinking this thing is growing to unexpected heights! The planning aspect involved with this party is reaching some interesting areas, and overall the response I've gotten has been a pleasant one. I will be able to give a full summary of the events tomorrow evening, but as for right now, I will give a preview of goings on with the party.
First and foremost, this party is shaping up to be an extremely FUN time. I initially attended a Bush part back in April while at SHU (you may remember the blog post) and I realized that the only people there, aside from me, Teddy, and Leroy, were adults. So I set out to throw my own party this summer... a party that would have something to offer people my age, as well as the adults. I know that there are going to be more adults at this party there there will be teens, but that's not the point. The point is to let them know we are out there. To let them know there are some kids that support our President. To let them know that we all aren't being suckered into this MTV/Hollywood/Liberal bandwagon.
The first thing I wanted to change from the party I went to in April (which was a great party in its own, adult, right) was the music. Entirely too much country music to take that seriously. So to make things a little easier on the ears, my PowerMac G4 (which houses my 18GB iTunes library) will be hooked up to the huge sound system at the Blue Violet. Even better, there will be a projector hooked up to the Mac, therefore giving me a huge desktop for everyone to check out. On this screen I will be doing a handful of presentations and slide shows. I have three that I have planned thus far, although I may make more tomorrow if I get a chance. The first is a slide show featuring pictures of our president, stuff I found on his campaign site along with GOP.com. The second is a collection of political cartoons from the associated press. The third is a series of PDF documents from EvilConservatives.com. The video that GW sent me specifically directed towards this party will also be shown on the projector.
Next is the atmosphere. The first party I went to was on the patio of a beautiful hotel. But food was expensive and there was a good bit of alcohol but no coffee (something that always makes Mike sad). Food at the party has to be purchased, however it's all gloriously cheap and delicious. There will be chips and iced tea and coffee for free, however. There are also going to be some posters hung up on the wall (including a large poster I have illustrated entitled "Republican Beach Party") and there will be a table of materials and stickers to grab. The Blue Violet is a sweet-ass cafe for sure. There are couches and recliners and tables, all the makings of a relaxing, conversation inducing atmosphere. And that's really what these parties are about... having conversations.
There are a few "events" planned for this party. Of course the main one I've been trumpeting has been the conference call with Laura Bush. She will be making a phone call to parties all across the country at 8:30PM, and we will have a connection to it via Christoph Feragotti's HP Laptop. And of course if that fails we also have a phone number to call. On top of that, there will also be two showings of the previously mentioned GW video message. And just to keep the atmosphere humorous and fun, myself and Mike Hinzman (one of my best friends, mentors, and a fellow Cellar Dweller) will be doing vaudeville routines of everyone's favorite Democratic nominees John Kerry and John Edwards. I will be playing John Edwards... Having written these jokes ourselves, I can assure you that they are pretty freaking funny, even to you liberals out there. I may put them on this blog at a later date. But these "acts" will be going on all throughout the three hours of this party!
And so that's pretty much how this thing is going down. I will give a full summary of the events, and some pictures, tomorrow. As I said I've been getting this word out to a ton of people. I have been getting requests for invitations via Bush's campaign site, and last night (on my birthday) I spoke at the Beaver County GOP meeting at the courthouse, telling all 150 people there about my party, which was endorsed by the Beaver County rep. And while some people there said they hoped I would run for a public office upon turning 26, all of them agreed it is going to be a great party tomorrow night.
Thanks in advance to anyone who plans on attending tomorrow night. It's going to be an excellent evening, because you don't have to be partisan to have fun!
