Progress on the Trail

"What happens when we take 6 people and put them on the undeveloped Louisiana Purchase? They stop being polite and start being real. This is Real World, Oregon Trail!"

That's the beginning line to a few of the 15+ sketches in the latest Cellar Dweller comedy show, Origami Trail. You maybe remember the Dwellers, a comedy troupe I've belonged to for over seven years now, when we performed at Seton Hill earlier this year. Of course, when we were at SHU we did two hours of improv; this current show has some sketch comedy thrown into the mix.

The show is going quite well so far. We have four performances planned for this show, two of which are now officially under our belts. The first one was at the New Castle Playhouse Annex, in New Castle, PA. It was a pretty good show, but we have to remember that New Castle is always a hard venue to get a full house. And so we changed the show a bit, cut some things, added a few skits and really improved on an already funny bunch of skits. We then moved along to the Community College of Beaver County's Allied Health Auditorium. Out of all of our venues this was the one we frequented the most. Last night's performance at CCBC was a huge success, and the additions to the show really shined.

And so now I get to the point of this entry... our next performance is in Pittsburgh. It's at the Gemini Theater in Point Breeze this Saturday! For those of you who don't know where's that's at, it's right off of the Edgewood exit off of 376 Parkway. It's on Penn Avenue in a building called "The Factory". It's a cool little blackbox theater that houses all sorts of improv troupes and play festivals during the year. Best yet, it's only about 35-40 minutes away from Seton Hill's campus! (Because you don't have to go through the Squirrel Hill Tunnels, it's a much shorter drive that going to Pittsburgh).

It's a hilarious bunch of skits that everyone's raving about! Scott Tady of the Beaver County Times says, "So, if you want to hear jokes about airplane food, then go see some comedian standing in front of a brick wall. But if you'd rather see side-splitting skits about an adulterous Mr. Clean, zombie real estate agents and a pushy accountant who works for James Bond's nemesis Goldfinger, then go check out the Cellar Dwellers." Yes, check out the Cellar Dwellers.

The show starts at 8PM and runs until 10. Tickets are just $7 for students with ID! So come check out myself, along with the rest of our troupe this Saturday!

You almost look like a preacher's son in your picture...

"The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes he was, he was, ooh, yes he was"

Go Dwellers Go!
