Seton Hill Adds Parking (For Non-Students)
In classic Seton Hill fashion, another extremely convenient parking lot has been added to campus. This one is specifically convenient to residents of Farrell and Brownlee as it's seated right behind Farrell as if you were driving to Charitas Christi. But, in classic bastard fashion, this parking lot is reserved so students can't park in it. This of course wasn't told to anyone until the lot of 10 odd spaces were already filled. Then one mystical afternoon we found yellow sheets of copy paper under our windshields telling us to move our cars. And the next day those cars that remained were promptly ticketed.
Talk about the old bait and switch, Seton Hill is on top of these parking tickets this year. It seems the more unreasonable parking spots they add, the more the unreasonable parking tickets flourish. But the real problem I have this time is the fact that the parking lot is going to go unused.
Who is this parking lot reserved for? Perhaps it's the Forward planning building behind the Lodge... you know, the one that is practically boarded up and shut down. I don't even care what they do there, whatever it is it certainly can't take 10 different cars to do it. 10 cars that need to be parked there 24 hours a day, seven days a week. And yet they have slapped ye old "Reserved" paint all over the small stone curbs in front of each space, forever banning students from encroaching on these meager spaces.
This could be a good thing, however, since the spaces are poorly placed, and are at the perfect angle to cause havoc in the Lodge. They are just high enough, just close enough, that if a drunk or crazy person flew into a space and didn't stop they would soar over the hill and smash right into the side of the building. This could present another major issue for maintenance to avoid for two months. Heck, even if someone's emergency break turns off, a car could drift down and totally dominate anyone living on the first two floors of the dorm. But since only imaginary cars will be parking there, we should survive.
Thanks Seton... I'll make sure to park on Sullivan lawn next time.
