Just Like I Left It

Returning to SHU after our elongated break was a bit of fresh air... at leas that's what I was planning. I loved our winter break this year, although it seems like the majority of kids I've talked to thought it was too long. I can always find crap to occupy myself with, but I guess that doesn't necessarily mean it's good for me. But I returned to school, eager to have objectives again and have some enjoyable times.

Needless to say I had a rough start, especially when I got to my room to find the following...

mess.jpg This disaster brought to you by the Seton Hill Theater Department.

Apparently the theater department was assigned a mission to create an RA training video over break, and they decided to film in various rooms in Farrell hall. Since I room with two theater majors, they saw it fit to use Mike & Puff's Room o' Bliss, and in the process totally knocked over my wire bookshelf. Not cool, folks, seeing as how I had to spend a good part of my Sunday back on campus reassembling it.

But after that fiasco, my Spring semester started going up Hill full speed ahead (excuse the pun). My classes this semester are tending to focus more on my creative writing major than my graphic design major. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays I have my Art History (continuing from last semester) followed by Playwriting down at St. Mary's. Tuesdays and Thursdays I have Christian Scriptures and Typography II, and then Thursday nights I have Magazine Writing. I'm enjoying the majority of my classes, although I must say the bait-and-switch with who my Typography would be was certainly not cool.

I am also happy to say that I will be working at Seton Hill's Writing Center this semester as a writing consultant. It's gonna be a few weeks of training before I'm actually allowed to help some kids in need of syntax aid, but hey when I'm ready to go feel free to stop in and see me. It's a great program they have up there, and friendly folks to work with.

I'm looking forward to working with my clubs again this year (and no, I'm not talking about starting golfing). Eye Contact had a stellar issue last semester, and we are looking to continue our streak with the theme of "Consequences." And of course I don't need to tell you how excellent and successful the College Republicans were last semester. But this semester I'm hoping to get the club to hold a few movie nights and other events, and maybe even check out a convention or something.

So here's to a new semester... hopefully all SHU students who read my blog will have a good one filled with passing grades and a minimal amount of parking violations.

I'm sorry to hear about that wire shelf. It wasn't cool of them to leave it without at least tidying up and fixing it for you. I'm glad you got it back together again and I hope that your semester bodes well for you too!
