All Sorts of Shows

A whole mess of theater activities have once again found their way to my dusty old doorstep. But this time, it's not just the Cellar Dwellers! I'm actually doing another play on campus... not one of the main stage productions (although I was asked to be in one of them, I had to turn it down due to other obligations) but rather another student directed affair.

But first thing's first: The Dwellers. We have a brand new sketch comedy show debuting in two weeks, one that we have been quietly hard at work at. It's cleverly titled "Prostate of the Union." And although the show has nothing to do with politics, it does have a heavy amount of hilarity so far. Let's just say I get to play a short South American dictator named after a potato chip company. Yeah, it's going to be worth checking out.

We are also doing a third "all-improv" show at Thursday's Restaurant in Bridgewater (where The Clarks play every time they come to Beaver County.) It's a sweet little venue with great food, and it's also the place where Donnie Iris goes to see all of our shows. That show is Saturday, March 12th at 8:00PM (and it's all ages... so kids now's your chance to get into a real bar!)

And of course I'm still doing improv every Friday (every FRIDAY?!) at the Beaver Valley Bowl in Rochester. Thus far I've dragged both Puff and Karissa to this thing and they both had a good time. Maybe you too should make the trip to the Beav to see some good ol' improv (or at least tell Student Activities that you want the Dwellers back on campus!)

That brings me to what I'm up to on campus. I was recently cast as Gately in the hilarious play PVT. Wars by James McLure. The play is being directed by Ed Hughes, a senior theater major, and stars me, Mic and Jon. We've joked as of late because Ed thinks of me as his little theater secret. I told him a Diane Keaton to his Woody Allen, his Leonardo DiCaprio to his Scorsese, etc. But anyways, the play freaking rocks (it's about three war vets in a mental home) and will be debuting on campus at the end of April/early May (it's considered his final thesis). Make sure you check that out.
