Williamsburg Prelude

Tomorrow I'm heading on vacation with my family to wonderful, fabulous, colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. And while it's not something I'm 100% thrilled about (then again, my family has to normally drag me on vacation) it should give me time to get away from work and give the county a rest from having to entertain my every whim. This means no Kolache for a week, no Cellar Dwellers for over a week, no design work, and no crazy neighbors. But, unlike my last vacation, I'll have my iBook with me... and with any luck, I'll be hitting up some hotspots and making a few blog posts while in the throws of my southern excursion.

As Danny posted on his LiveJournal:

Here's a run down on what my family looks for in a vacation:
Dad: I just want to be entertained! Lot's of shows and things to watch!
Mom: I like trying new things and being... together as a family.
Mike: Just leave me alone in a coffee shop with WiFi and I'll be content.
Me: I don't like to sit around, I get bored being with the family all the time, and I hate doing what I always do while at home... going to cafes with WiFi.

So the verdict is still out on how much fun I will be having, but I'm remaining open-minded. Saturday we plan on seeing Romero's "Land of the Dead" (a film, I personally have been waiting for for quite some time now). And then I think we are going to Busch Gardens and hitting up a ghost tour... things will be interesting, and I assure you that you'll hear all about them.

Until then, courage.

I grew up in Northern Virginia (around Washington, D.C.) and remember quite a few colonial family vacations. Does Busch Gardens still have the Loch Ness Monster? That was the first roller coaster I ever rode.

I also had friends who went to Williamsburg College (Thomas Jefferson's alma mater), so I went back a few times as an undergrad,

The last time I was there Nessy was still running.
