So Mel Gibson would be a bard?

bard:a term originally used to denote early Celtic poets who composed poems glorifying warriors and heroes, now sometimes used to refer to William Shakespeare (the Bard), to any individual poet, or to poets (or the poet) in general.
(Bedford 36) I was thinking Braveheart for the mel gibson thing.
