As You Like It

Seton Hill's production was amazing. Although I think I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't got stuck besides an old lady that checked the time every 15 minutes using her mini flash light.

My Shakespeare Biography

Shakespeare

The first thing to keep in mind with any Shakespearean Play is that they are meant to be heard and seen, not read. Brendanfeels that he understood more of the puns hearing them aloud then reading them (Wathcing is More Fun Than Reading). Also, most people couldn't read during Shakespeare's time and were taught through plays.

When Shakespeare wrote his plays, he accomodated them to be performed on the Globe Theater Stage. The stage is set outdoors and the stage is set out from the back.

I loved the costumes used for this play. The designed used some modern items, like motorcylce boots for Orlando, still tied in the entire costume. I felt that the costumes held true to Shakespeare's time except for the wedding dresses at the end of the play. The dresses used were modern ones that weren't altered or did they tie in the Shakespearean time. I feel that they could have used any white dress along with the bouquets they used to get the wedding effect. Also Hymen came out and told of the marriages and handed the brides the bouquets.

Sherry(As You Like It or not) Spatarofelt that the middle part of the play lacked drama. This is the point where the characters are wondering around in search of each other and trying to find the love they lost. Orlando is looking for Rosalind, and Oliver is looking for Orlando. Although Orlando and Rosalind are in love, Oliver and Orlando need to work at their love and eventually find it towards the end of the play.

Overall, the Production I feel was as true as you are going to get to how Shakespeare had it mind (except for the Beetle's Song "All You Need Is Love" at the play)
