Chapter 9-10 Elements of journalism

The Elements of Journalism (Ch 9 & 10) -- News Writing (EL 227)

I found chapter 9 of the reading to give some surprising information. It said the value of a story relies on it's completeness and proportionality. This reminded me of how i have learned to write my articles with fewer words, but still getting my story across. I did not realize using metaphors clashes with the proportionality of a story. In chapter 10, I found that journalism relies on being honest and the writer's conscience. It seems odd to me because I always that journalism was a "get the story no matter what kind of job." The more i read of this book the more i realize that journalism is more than just that.
