We the Media Chap11 12 and epilogue

We the Media (Ch 11 & 12, Epilogue) -- News Writing (EL 227)

Chapter 11
Journalism is the freedom of writing, but I found in this chapter that some of our freedoms within writing are being taken away. With the internet blogging and use of the internet privacy being taken away and the use of "cookies" people are seeing where you are and where you've been. Also with the uprise of technology the copyright laws to music and movies are now in debate. I found chapter 11 to be eyeopening to the freedoms of writing and how they may be conflicting with true journalism.

Chapter 12 & epilogue
In the book the author says "The internet is the most important medium since the printing press." In a way I feel that is now true for today's society. With reading this book I have come to realize that journalism is at a new level. Bloggin has become a new form of journalism which print is not.

Good point on the new form of journalism Rachel. One thing to consider is that print journalism doesn't really need to change itself, because it has consistently been effective and reliable to the reader. It is obvious that New Media Journalism will take over in the next 20 years, but Newspapers will always be around. Because there are so many opinions, rather than educated analyses in online journalism, it makes me a skeptic to believe that is actually going to take over.
