I get so confused about these kind of things, I mean I like role playing games. The thing is that this doesn't stay with one story. I mean you just understand what is going on then BAM new story. I wanna know what happened to the little girl who was drowning I saved her life I swear. This beach to where in the world is it? Oh for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, Dr. Jerz had a play an interactive fiction game, photophia. Wow it's just so random like I'm being right now, there is no chain of thought really. I'll tell you what I tried everything to not get my drunk friend to drive through the damn red light, but he just doesn't listen....why am I drunk in the first place? I mean I don't wanna go to a party with chicks, I am a chick, isn't this sexist. I mean there should be a male and female version of this game! Alright, I'm going back to figuring it out, because im sort of getting sucked into the game. It's like has power over me, play me play me. I get persistent with these kinda things, I hate when I can't figure things out!
So I spent my entire weekend at home, it was just so wonderful (hint to sarcasm). So I arrive home Friday afternoon, because thanks to the wonderful people at Harlan Gallery my 1 o’clock class was cancelled so I left around 1:30 instead of 3ish. Anyways, it wasn’t to horrible getting home this week. Thank you to whoever opened the Parkway back up at my interchange!
:-) Well when I get home everything thing is utter confusion, like normal, except now it’s worse! The flood is causing my nice little two bedroom town home accommodate 3 adults and a 1 year old. On occasion 4 adults, well this caused a bit of a problem. I still managed to get on with my life, so I was super psyched about Friday night. After driving (or more like sitting in traffic) in the wonderful town of Bridgeville I get a phone call around 6:30 this is where the excitement begins.
It’s my tattoo artist, who by the way is leaving for California on Friday, telling me that he’s been working on a sleeve for this guy (think like shirt sleeve, just in tattoo form) and it’s not gonna be done in time so I have an extra hour. So my sister’s boyfriend who is taking me is exciting because he can go eat, I am not to happy about going with him, but for all the millions of times I have been to
Witchdoctor's I still can’t find it. So this really gets the anticipation going, I can’t handle the ride there. Finally I arrive and he still has some work to do on this guy, let me tell ya, this man was getting a 6 hour tattoo and it still wasn’t done, lots of blood, poor guy looked like he was gonna pass out! So finally I get into the chair and we pick out th spot, I love Ron (my tattoo artist) because I pick a hard place and he’s up for the challenge. :-) So I have to admit I survived the terror of the needle for the third time and my hip is beatutified! It actually tickled at one point cause the tattoo gun was on my stomach and it made it vibrate. I was really pleased and still am with the work. Smilies for me, I love my tattoos!
So I get home and pretty much just hang out with my wonderful sister, then my mommy came home and she loves my new tattoo as well. Yippee! So Saturday was somewhat eventful, but they made me get up at 8 am...what a nice family huh? Saturday was pretty much just filled with shopping and fun. I rented a few movie and I definitely suggest them, I already had seen Scooby Doo 2, but I think it’s adorable, plus I am a Seth Green fan, so I rented that. Then I rented Mean Girls, wow, what a portrayal of high school drama, it’s actually pretty funny in some parts, I would suggest. Even though I didn’t rent it, I’ve seen Taking Lives and I suggest you do to, since it’s out to rent, I love Angelina Jolie, but the plot is actually pretty decent for a horror movie. Lots of twists and turns, in that one, which I love.
Finally today rolls around, I was pretty psyched because I went to the Pittsburgh Pagan Pride festival. Lots of fun stuff there, but I didn’t get anything this year, I wanna get some new oils and herbs, but since I can’t burn them here at Seton Hill I’ll have to get diffuser, or something. Anyways, I heard a lecture from Frank DeAngelis as well, he’s amazing, oh sorry it was on Parapsychology (ghosts)*Sorry I couldn't add links I can't really find any*. I’m really into that stuff, since I was there it reminded me that I needed Tarot cards, since someone who shall remain nameless lost mine. I was so glad to go out and get some today, they’re really interesting, they are based on medieval times. I can’t wait for some of my friends to get back to campus too! I really wanna see if I can get anyone to let me do a reading. Well that was the events of my exciting weekend, well at least it was exciting to me. I mean isn’t nice to just take a couple days off from life sometimes and just enjoy the simple things?
An interesting topic came up between Valerie and I yesterday before class and it inspired me. Before I really go in depth on that, I would like to know, who else is part of the Seton Hill
Subway crew
I’ve met a lot of people who worked at Subway, for like a year or two before they came here. Much like myself, I spent way to many hours at Subway, I used to cringe at Tuesday, $3.99 subs…never again! Also since I am talking about veggies, I would like to mention cause I don’t think I do on my about page, but I am a vegetarian. So veggies and I have a long history together. Alright now on to what I started with, it kind of brings Subway into it (Matt or Josh if someone ever brings this up to you, please tell them not to sue me I’m a good employee), did you ever have to cut vegetables? Did you ever notice how they change the color of your hands??
Well I’m sure plenty of you know, but I was left in the dark on this, but there are natural dyes in vegetables. Sorry I’m not big on botany, even though I eat them, I don’t know much about them. I thought this was pretty interesting, since Valerie’s hands were bright orange from carrots yesterday, and I remembered how I hated mine being purple from the onions. (This is the first site i found about people using
vegetable dye
I really wish I could learn how, but all I have in my fridge is celery and I don’t see it mentioned on to many sites. I did find one site and snagged a reciepe to make vegetable dye from it, which I didn’t save cause the internet is down. There is also this site that explains the process of using vegetables and
making dye. Not that I think I will ever use this information, I mean really what would I dye with a vegetable. At least now I know why my hands are discolored. Ok, well since this isn’t like super interesting, I don’t have much more to write so I am off cause I’ve been hogging one of the two working computers on this floor for too long.
Oh did ya notice my links…ya I know I did it!
Is it really a question of ethics? I mean by my moral standards I don't really see it as stealing. Some other people might but I just don't see it as that. If it was such a big problem in society wouldn't these sites get shut down before they even had a following. I know myself I've been using WinMX to download songs for about a year or so. I used to be a fan of Kazzaa, or however it's spelled until they started going after people. I mean they just targeted random people as well! I really can't remember if it was Napster or Kazzaa where they started prosecuting people, but I can remember watching it on the news and hearing about these people who didn't even know these files were on their computer, I mean the whole 12 files that were there. The people the prosecuted were such minor offenders!
Metallica complains that they are losing money and so forth, does it really matter? CD's are hardly as popular as they used to be. I know these companies feel that they have a fair share at what is "their money" but have you noticed ticket costs rising? Is it really worth $75 dollars for a 2 hour concert? With one maybe 2 bands and someone you've never heard of?? This drives me crazy! 43% ticket increase in the year 2001, is this really necessary? This actually caused a 15.5% loss in concert attendance, now that’s a serious money loss (http://www.u2world.com/news/article.php3?id_article=8656) This is the industry’s fault it has nothing to do with those of us downloading music.
I know I’m a random thinker but I wonder about this as well; I know some bands decided that they did not want their music available on these sites. Now I still try to download some of their songs and they start out but then get scratchy and messed up. Is this the company’s doing or just bad recording? Personally, I think all these wealthy people should have more on their mind then who is stealing “their money” I mean if you are so worried about it, put your angry and rage into a new album, movie, etc, the best you have ever done. Draw yourself a bigger crowd, get immersed in a new genre and become something bigger there for you can make more money. I guess I’m not the person to be complaining though, cause I’m not motivated enough to campaign and so on about it. Hey until they shut down WinMX I’m going to happily continue my illegal process.
Oh and Dr. Jerz to answer your question, if you steal a thousand dollars off someone is it wrong, even if they have millions? I say it depends on your social standings and what exactly your morals are. Personally I say no, because I’m poor and not afraid to admit it, but these people heck there children’s great grandchildren all they probably have to worry about is a stock market crash, and here I am working my butt off to provide a decent life for myself and my family yet I never know if I’m going to get anywhere, so ya a thousand dollars would make my life a little bit nicer. :-)

Some like me was out in the dark on this subject, I never known what Spyware was. The name makes it sounds like it might be something good to download and get rid of Adware, that’s what I assumed. Amazing!
What is Spyware
1.Computer software that gathers information about a computer user and then transmits this information to an external entity without the knowledge or informed consent of the user.
*The first recorded use of the term occurred on October 16, 1995 in a usenet post that poked fun at Microsoft’s Business Model
2. 2000 release of OptOut Anti-spyware
3.Spyware is like a virus but not a virus, it is installed without the users knowledge, but it does not replicate itself.
4.Window based computers, particularly those used by children or credulous adults, can rapidly accumulate a great many spyware components
5. Protection
*Automatic updates, antivirus, software updates
6.Spyware Vs. Adware

Viruses
1. Usually these are aimed to do some type of damage to a person’s computer, files, etc.
Open a “Back Door”
2.Use spamming as replication
3.A virus is a program that may or may not attach itself to a file and replicate itself. It may or may not corrupt the data of the file it invades. It may or may not try to use all of the computer's processing resources in an attempt to crash the machine. If that seems vague, it's because viruses are tricky. They may be simple notes that say "Hello" -- or they may attack and corrupt the files at the core of the system, causing it to crash.
4.This week computer viruses celebrate 20 years of causing trouble and strife to all types of computer users- November 10 2003
Types of Viruses
1.Worms invade a computer and steal its resources to replicate themselves. They use networks to spread themselves
2.A Trojan horse appears to do one thing but does something else. The system may accept it as one thing, but upon execution it may release a virus, worm or logic bomb.
3.A logic bomb is an attack triggered by an event, like the computer clock reaching a certain date. It might release a virus or be a virus itself.

Hacking Is A Virus
1. They are average people with strong computer skills and the desire to test those skills in ways that often prove illegal.
2.Network Hackers
*Some, like "denial of service attacks" or "mail bombs," are designed to swamp a computer network's ability to respond and perform its internal functions.
3.Software Crackers
*Application software, such as programs for word processing or graphics, puts the power of a personal computer in the hands of a user, even one who doesn't know how the computer works. It's often expensive and, like anything else that's useful but expensive, there's bound to be someone who wants to get it free of charge.
*These hackers develop their own software that can circumnavigate or falsify the security measures that keep the application from being replicated on a PC.
4.Virus Builders
*Some hackers are also virus builders. Viruses, worms, Trojan horses and logic bombs are all forms of programs that can invade a system. Some are malicious, some aren't.

Security
1.Basic Security
*Don't open any email attachments you didn't specifically request. Try as much as you can as well not to even send attachments.
*Anti Virus Software
*Update Operating System
*Firewalls
*Common Sense; Don’t believe everything you read
*Stay aware

Sorry about the links, still haven’t figured out the hyperlink thing. :-) I hope you guys learn something from here like I did, and maybe I’ll figure out how to link some other sites up here.
Alright, where do I start, I suppose the basics would be the best place. I am currently a freshman at Seton Hill, obviously. My name is Samantha and I am 19 years old and from around the south hills area of Pittsburgh. I'm a creative writing major, and I don't play any sports because I had some really bad coaches, which I guess is no excuse. Well, I'm a health food fanatic, in a sense, it has a lot to do with the fact that I'm a vegetarian. I mean who can turn down a pizza every now and then? I'm all about veggies and fruits though they are the best!
I am a writer obviously, but a very shy one at that. I am scarred that I am not as good as my family makes me feel like I can be. You know how it is with family they have to praise because it's just like one of those quotas, just like I always fought with my older sister, cause she was mean. :-) I guess if i had to give myself a genre, I'm a horror writer, and a poet. I'm currently in the process of devolping a plot, and it's not working to well for me. I also read alot of horror, and I'm very aware that Stephen King is retiring, and I doubt he's aware that I am taking his place. :-) I have been writing since I was in 3rd grade, and I greatly thank my teacher for making me write my first poem.
Well I know if you've ever seen me you can tell I'm into piercings and tattoos. I've researched about every piercing and tattoo before I've gotten it, and I'm not into flash(when you just walk into a tattoo parlor and pick a random tattoo off the wall). I even wanted a piercing intership this summer but my piercer left before I could get started. At one point I had somewhere between 14-17 piercings, but sometimes things don't work out with migration and such, I currently have 12 and 2 tattoos, on September 24th I will be getting my thrid and finally tattoo.
Back in the south hills and various other places are all of my life long buddies. Some of my friends have been some of my biggest inspriations in my life, outside of my mommy. Also my nephew has really changed my life around, he's part of the reason I am here. I want him to learn that whatever you want you can attain, even if you have to work for it, success take time.
Alright I'm shutting up now and I will hand the floor to someone else, by the way I love smiley emoticons :-)
By the way I dont think this worked...but hey I gave it my best
A little added addition to this, in case anyone would like to get ahold of me you can either try, oli751@acad.setonhill.edu or Sev7nthsin@aol.com :-)
This will be the first time you get to experince my random though processes as I talk about things that are really irrating me. As much as I hate to start this way the blog is coming close to being the number one thing. Why you might ask? Well if you can read this you better tell me how you got it up, cause I've tried to bring up my blog on like four different computers and guess what, it's not working to well. Also I've tried this About page project maybe like 30 times and it's still not working. Although I finally managed to get rid of my internal error sign. :-) Still it doesn't work, so yet again I delete everything and then start at direction number one...it still doesn't work!!! Maybe I'm just not computer material, and I do like a challenge but a frustration is irrating.
Well now that I got that out I feel about 10% better. Next subject please, I wish I knew how to use hypertext, because Dr. Jerz made me think of something which I would like to link to...haha here's my first try at it. Dr. Jerz mentioned in his lecture today about the types of terms that we use in our blogs, mainly profanity. Last night someone at this school made a comment to me that really bothered me, I didn't say anything directly to him, nor am I going to repeat the comment so I can protect this person's privacy. Although I sometimes forget how different our college is from many of my friend's colleges and somewhere like here if I wanted to present it as sexual harassment, I'm sure it would cause much chaos. Alot of people never think about how might hear them say what they say, and you never know who is offended and who isn't, so you might want to watch out. I'm not talking about when you come right out and attack someone but even simple comments as when some girls refer to friends as 'sluts' or 'whores', these such terms could be offensive to anyone. Also I've heard quite a few comments, that were made in a joking manner, about suicidal actions and so forth, I'm sorry but this is not something that you should joke about. There are certain people who don't understand weather they have a purpose on earth and when happy, bubbly people can make jokes about how they are going to kill themselves for illogical reasons, if someone who has/is contimplating suicide hears you, do you understand how you make them feel? If someone is feeling down they don't feel worse.
Alright, I have to stop with that or else I will rant and rave on every comment I hear. I'm very passionate about respecting people's rights. Anyways this is the absolute best pharse I have ever heard: We don't run from Hurricanes, We drink them. A bar in New Orleans had this painted across the boards they were using to salvage thier place, from Ivan. This is so depressing for me, the past two years I've gone on vacation to New Orleans. I will tell you what the people and the lifestyle down there have personally changed me so much. New Orleans is truthfully one of the reason I am at Seton Hill right now, one of the reasons I'm devoting myself to my work, and trying even if i fail, trying my hardest. Then I'm listening to the weather channel just to be devastated! They are saying Ivan has the power to blow New Orleans off the map! I don't want to loose my city, it is my dream to be there, to live there, it is what I strive for. I mean yeah it would be great to have a college degree, but what good is it going to do for me if I have no where to take it and pursue my dreams of being happy and living in the haunted homes of the French Quarter? This is really starting to upset me. I guess we'll just have to wait and see the damage done, once the news is on tomorrow, this might be one time I actually get up at 530ish to watch the AM news.
Check the scheme out...yippee for me, I know how to make pretty colors. I'm just so excited about learning all these new things. What I'm not excited about is well first this rain...yuck and the people downstair are making my floor vibarate with thier music >:-/ Oh well, I suppose it's off to do some real work now. Since I got an ok on my topic in Seminar in thinking and writing, I really doubt this but if anybody can help me on getting information about piercings and tattoos in the work place I would appreciate it. I know alot about the tattoos and piercings themselves, but I'm not to sure about regulations or anything like that, a health department site would be great. :-)
SeVzZ
Just saying hello to everyone, I personally am in complete shock that I set this up. I really thought I knew something about computers til I took this class. :-)
I hope you guys welcome me with open arms, I'm going to try to make as little grammatical errors in here as I can, but I'm used to that darn internet short hand. Also if anyone either in class or out could help me out with this pretty color thing I would appreciate it, I tried following the directions but got lost and the control + f part
Anyone every wants to get ahold of me, AIM is Ink Slinger19, thanks ya'll I'm looking forward to a fun semster now that I figured something out. :-)
