To LOVE or Not to Love

Eliot, ''The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock'' -- Jerz: Intro to Literary Study (EL150)

This poem is definitely a love fest. at first I had a diffivult time trying to decipher what this poem was all about. I tried to think of what the author was trying to tell the reader. I asked a few friends what they thought it meant and we came up with the idea that it is about not being able to make a choice. Which is only human. I think that the guy in this poem is a guy who will wait till the last minute to do a task A.K.A. Procrastinator! This quote says alot!

"And time yet for a hundred indecisions,
And for a hundred visions and revisions,
Before the taking of toast and tea."

He feels that he has all the time in the world and that time will wait for him to tell the women that he loves her.

Amen! I think that he needs to realize that you snooze you lose. I think he is regretting what he will be losing and knows already that he's doomed.
