The new residence hall will be named in honor of Eileen Farrell, former president and alumna of Seton Hill. Formerly called "The Lodge" for construction purposes, the building located beside Brownlee Hall, is now open to upperclassmen. Following in the tradition of being named after presidents of Seton Hill, the new residence hall will be officially named on Monday, September 27, 2004 at 4:00 during an open house ceremony.

According to Robin Illsley, associate dean of student services and director of residence life, Farrell, who died in July 2002, "is an appropriate person to name a building after."

"Eileen devoted ten years to her role as President from 1977 to 1987, but she dedicated her life to the well-being of Seton Hill," noted JoAnn Boyle, president of Seton Hill University.

"Eileen would be pleased to hear she is named after a residence hall, and that [Seton Hill is] growing," said Sr. Lois, vice president for administration and student life, "She was an advocate of the students, and very supportive of [the Greensburg] area."

"[The building] should be named after someone who has a connection to Seton Hill history," said Matthew Zielinski, graduate assistant of student services. "It is a way to celebrate our community by giving it a name."
