On December 11, 2004 at 6:00 p.m., Lowe Dining Hall will open for the annual celebration, Christmas on the Hill.

Christmas on the Hill is a tradition of Seton Hill University to celebrate the holiday season. The celebration starts with a wassail, then procedes in the dining hall with a dinner.

Darren Achtzehn of Aramark Food Service has been preparing the decorations at the dining hall along with a number of volunteer faculty and staff.

According to Andrea Martin, a head resident assistant who has attended this event before, the decorations are fabulous.

“The decorations are half up now,” Achtzehn said, also saying that he likes how the decoration “unfolds in front of the students.”

Faculty and staff serve the students dinner each year. “We look for familiar faces,” Achtzehn said.

Students can expect to see people such as Kathy Fajt, Charmaine Strong, Barb Stasgo, and others. Amianne Labuda said, "[The food is] the best food you’ll eat in the dining hall all year.”

“It’s the kickoff of celebrating the Christmas season. And it helps to carry the celebration over to home,” Martin said.

Achtenzehn said it is “a fantastic time for people to come together.”

The dinner will be followed by mass in St. Joseph’s Chapel at 8:00 p.m. and a dance in Cecilian Hall at 9:00 p.m.
