The National Education Center for Women in Business (NECWB) is presently hosting its first alumni lecture series called Entre Talk, part of its annual Women & Co. networking series, which features three alumni entrepreneurs: Kara Anthony, Mary Jane Appel, and Jane Geever. This event is sponsored by the NECWB and National City.

"We're always very happy to call back our students who are successful, and to have them share their success stories with other students," said Ellen Greiner of the alumni department.

The NECWB received a FIPSE grant, which is being used for the Entre Talk Series. The series started on February 7 with Anthony, who graduated from Seton Hill College (SHC) in 1988, and is the founder of Concerned Nutrition Consultants. Approximately 45 people attended this event.

"I wish that an alumni member had come to speak when I was [at Seton Hill]," said Anthony.

Appel, who graduated from SHC in 1989, was recommended to the program by Maureen Vissat of the art department. "She's one of our best works of art," said Vissat.

According to Suzanne Thinnes, Appel's collection of custom-made jewelry, handbags and home accessories have been featured in < href="http://www.washingtonpost.com/">The Washington Post, Country Home Magazine, and Woman?s Day Magazine. In 2000, Appel established Mary Jane Appel, Inc., a company that provides research, writing and collections management services to museums and libraries.

"Appel's ability to create distinctive designs with vintage photographs has helped catapult her reputation as a nationally acclaimed artist," said Thinnes.

Mary Jane Appel will speak at the Harlan Gallery on March 22, from 3:00-5:00 p.m. "I'm looking forward to coming back and participating. I don't think I've been back to Seton Hill since I graduated. I think [Entre Talk] is a great program," said Appel.

The third of the three speakers will be Jane Geever, who will be arriving in April. Geever graduated from SHC in 1968 and founded J.C. Geever, Inc. in 1975.

If you are interested in Entre Talk, please register online at www.e-magnify.com or contact SHU?s NECWB. The cost for the Women & Co. event is $12.00.

REBECCA CAMPBELL, DIRECTOR OF CAREER DEVELOPMENT

"The series has been very exciting so far. I think [Entre Talk] helps students because the speakers are good members of society who are entrepreneurs. Students can learn a lot from them and apply the knowledge they acquire to their own futures," said Rebecca Campbell, director of career development.
