A MURAL IN THE CHILDREN'S SECTION OF REEVES MEMORIAL LIBRARY, PAINTED BY HONORS STUDENTS IN THE ART SEMINAR COURSE
Mark Kissner, adjunct faculty member of the art department, guides five students in this class: freshman Cayla Glover and sophomores Brian Blasko, Adam Bonfanti, Mike Diezmos and Sarah Elwood. The class fulfills the creative artistic expression requirement of the liberal arts core curriculum. According to Kissner,”[The class is] not really so much about learning mural painting skills, but coming up with creative solutions to artist problems.” “[We learned] different art styles, techniques, ways to trick the eye with paint, and different muralists,” said Blasko. “It’ll [the mural] be really nice for the kids who come in here,” said Glover. With the possibility of having an official opening of the mural to the public, Kissner found it refreshing to be able to work with honors students. “I think the students here have a great attitude about coming to class and learning,” Kissner said.
