Blogs: Scholastic and social | 03/16/06 |
School sponsored blogging at colleges and universities has become popular in recent years. Seton Hill University (SHU) is part of this rising trend as the school’s blog has been running for nearly three years, with over 300 users. Anyone at SHU can acquire a weblog, or “blog,” and anyone with access to the Internet can read SHU blogs.
English professor and Setonian adviser Dennis Jerz introduced the blog to SHU. Before coming to SHU in the fall of 2003, Jerz proposed the idea of a SHU blog site. Jerz discussed his idea with Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty, Mary Ann Gawelek, who was enthusiastic about the benefits that blogging could bring to the classroom. |
