Today, the fountain that fell victim to campus vandalism is up and running again. As Homecoming approaches, students get a bittersweet reminder of the reality of “what goes around, comes around.”
“That (fountain) was a gift from students to students and students defaced it,” said Kathy Fajt, administrative assistant to the dean of student services. |

Students petition for campus security's right to bear arms | 05/03/07 |
In the wake of the April 16 Virginia Tech shootings, there has been a growing concern for campus safety. The cumulative effect of the shootings compelled two Seton Hill University (SHU) students, Rosslyn Light, a senior, and Dave Kemerer, a sophomore, to collect signatures in petition for campus police to be armed.
“We didn’t take the time to know the police weren’t armed,” Kemerer said.
The two agreed that the proposal would be a good step toward a greater sense of security for students on campus. |

Rasta defines roots | 11/20/06 |
When most people unfamiliar with roots music think of reggae, the most universal response is "Bob Marley." However, reggae has a rich tradition which can encompass many subgenres such dancehall, dub, ska and roots reggae.
On November 3, the reggae band Jah-N-I performed for the Seton Hill University (SHU) Intercultural Student Organization (ISO) food festival. In the tradition of roots reggae, with lyrics centered on justice and the conditions of victims of social and economic oppression, Jah-N-I's sound is both a mourning of the human condition and a celebration of human potential. Their music can be described as intimate and personal. |

University to discontinue portfolios | 11/20/06 |
While December graduates are putting the final touches on their university portfolios, it looks as if that process may come to an end for future graduates. Incoming freshmen at Seton Hill University (SHU) will no longer have a universal portfolio requirement.
Assessment of the university learning objectives in each major will be determined by the major and the division. By 2008, each major must present a plan of assessment to the University Assessment Committee. |

SHU joins Greensburg in celebrating unity | 10/31/06 |
On Wednesday, October 25, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. in St. Clair Park, the sounds of drums and shakers could be heard from the seats of the Robert Shaw Amphitheater. Students, local organizations and members of the community gathered to participate in the Central Westmoreland Unity Coalition’s annual Unity Rally.
Created in 1997 in response to a Ku Klux Klan rally held at the Westmoreland County Courthouse, the Unity Rally has beem held each year with different themes. |

Lenten panel discusses continuity, discontinuity of passion narratives | 04/17/06 |
On Sunday, April 9, 2006, as the Christian world prepared for Holy Thursday, Seton Hill's National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education (NCCHE) hosted a panel presentation and discussion entitled “Continuity and Discontinuity in the Passion Narratives.” The panel discussed the ways the Catholic church had presented the gospels and the implications for Jewish-Christian relations.
