Seniors abroad04/24/08
During last J-term, Allie Cheppa, a senior, went to Mexico with several other Seton Hill University (SHU) students. She said the trip was a good learning experience, but she regrets not having more free time after classes and group excursions.

“We had so much work that we didn’t have much time to enjoy the culture,” said Cheppa. “But it was a good experience. Negative or positive, you learn from it any way. I would never go back, but I’m glad I went.”
Getty grant in action on campus04/03/08
For months, Seton Hill University (SHU) has been expecting the arrival of surveyors from the Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation (PHLF). In July, the Getty Foundation gave a $200,000 Campus Heritage grant to PHLF, which was in turn distributed between SHU and three other schools to assist with historic conservation.

Surveyors have started visiting SHU to create conservation plans that would help the university maintain its historical value while also adjusting to its growth.
Thanksgiving, the forgotten holiday?11/29/07
Less than two weeks ago, Americans celebrated a holiday that has been celebrated (officially or not) since the colonial days. Thanksgiving is a day for reflection, appreciation and food. Perhaps more emphasis is put on the food, but reflection and appreciation certainly are sure to follow a good, hearty meal.

So why is it that I helped my family put up the Christmas tree on this day? Why did I, as of November 22, already have a stack of Christmas presents either in my possession or ready to be sent via Amazon.com and eBay? Why do so many people treat Thanksgiving as a sort of pre-game for the holidays, and a kick-off for Christmas?

We want to write what you want to read10/29/07
Upon reading one of our Setonian issues, one is sure to run across at least one text box of shameless Setonian self-advertising. I'm sure Lorin Schumacher, layout editor, will be angry with me for giving away a trade secret, but to make my point, I had to give a little bit of information.
