Greensburg provides healthy organic options (Print-friendly)

Greensburg, the little town that could. The city offers a variety of restaurants, bars, and boutiques to choose from. It also offers several tattoo parlors, coffee shops, a natural food store, and a skateboard shop to satisfy Greensburg’s sub-culture. There is something for anyone in the “Burg”.
Nature’s Way, located on 796 Highland Ave., is an independent grocery store that caters to the likes of health-nuts, vegetarians, and vegans (yes, there is a difference).
Nature’s Way offers a multitude of alternative foods and vitamins. The Tofurky is a unique item that can be found at the store. It is soy based and has a delicious mushroom stuffing in the center. For those who suffer from the “I can’t eat anything here” holiday get-togethers, Nature’s Way has something to curb your frustration.
Cleveland Steward, a resident of Greensburg said “I have been a vegetarian for over five years, Nature’s Way has served my needs. They carry everything I use from perfume -free detergents, to all natural peanut butter.”
Nature’s Way has been serving the public since 1976. Hours of operation for thestore are: Mon-Fri 10-6, Wed 10-7, Sat 10-5.
Nature's Way caters to a variety of special diets including vegetarian and vegan. The store carries gluten-free products as well.
Jill Ashbaugh is the store manager at Nature’s Way. She has worked there for 14 years. She said the store sees 225 customers a day on an average basis. They differ from large, corporate grocery stores because “our staff are well trained and Nature’s Way offers one on one customer service,” said Ashbaugh. Ashbaugh continued by stating, “The owner of Nature’s Way is particular about what is placed on their shelves. Only the cleanest and best products are shelved.”
