Expand beyond main characters!
Fitzgerald, ''Bernice Bobs Her Hair'' (1920) -- Jerz: American Lit II (EL 267)
After our class discussion I wish I would of reflected more about Warren or Otis, less prominent characters. It is so easy to get caught up in the main characters and how the presentation reflects the entire work. These characters played a much more important role than what I thought and they affected the actions of Bernice. Roberts explained that we must take the piece - character, point of view, etc - and apply to the entire summation of the work. Great class discussion - makes me want to go and read it again!
