I Couldn't understand how it ended with the fther fireing the hired hand as the only thing he did. didn't he feel bad for what he did to his children. Didn't his wife care that she was so rude to the boys. why didn't anyone make sure they had blankets. This just shows that people were doing wrong with their children a lot longer than the system that holds them accountable was around for.

I watched my father fight cancer for xeven years and never really knew what he was thinking or how he felt. He was quick with a joke, and would leave the room before he would let you see what was going on with him. This story made it all to clear, and now I hate cancer more than I did before I never thought that could happen but I was wrong. The researchers really need to put some more of these experimental drugs out so that they can possibly help more people and lessen some of the suffering.

This story just shows how horribly people of color were treated by the world in the past. Here were these four soliders that were truly out of thier leauge in this village in the hills against the Germans yet the White southern captian took it upon himself to treat them badly. The only true joyful experience out of the story was Train the big mountain of a man and this child that he nursed back to health. The child he gave his life for, that in the end was able to give Hector a chance at peace all because of the kindness Train had shown him in the past. If they child was truly a protected spirt we will never know, but he learned form Train it isn't the color of your skin that matters, It is the willingness you have to help another soul not wanting any reward in return but love and kindness. This is a lesson that we can all use in this day and age.

I am a true believer that You must have a strong and caring firendship with a person befoer you can become involved in the love of your life realtionship with them. People are in such a jurry to fall in love and they always look for the wrong person to fall for. People need to look at their best freind if that is thier choice. They need to realize that you must like the person to love them and work from their. If more people did this their might just be less divorces in the world.

I didn't really see how it looked until I saw ths character in the story who was able to tick off every body she met with her sarchasim. I really liked this one. It makes you look at how we respond to people and how we put our own feelings out there and build a wall without knowing we are doing it. The man in the naked lady suit who triedd so hard to talk to Zoe yet she wouldn't hear of it like if she let her guard down the world might get in. Zoe really needed to do some soul searching to figure out why peple didn't like her instead of blaming everyone for her problems.

"Whoever you are-I have always depended on the kindness of strangers"

This quote just brings out the true meaning of blanche to me. This woman came into her sisters home and basically set it on its ear, even though she knew nothing of her husband she was willing to have him support her without blinking an eye at how he may feel. She reminds me of a true southern bell, like Scarlet in gone with the wind. As long as the world is taking care of blanche she has no cares of how they survive. I also lookat how she took to Mitch so easy. She did not know him from Adam yet she was willing to move in on him like a vulture on some road kill because she knew he could provide her with a good and stable home and life. Blanche to me is that little old lady in the bar when you are first old enough to drink that has the lipstick on her teeth hitting on all men to buy her drinks, and take her home and care for her becasue she cannot do it for herself. She is a pittiful thing that needs some help.

American Lit for Dr. Jerz, EL267/2005

The blogs I cholse all show how I have found a new way to lookat pieces of literature and not just read them for the story they have to tell but the one that lies under the surface.

THE GREAT GATSBY

I chose the entry Daisy who is She? In this entry I fould that the character Daisy was not who she pretended to be in the begining. Yes she was a refined lady of society but she was also self centered and only cared about protecting her place in society at the cost of anyone who got in her way.

A JURY OF HER PEERS

I found it very interesting at how it so differed from The Adding Machine where they wre willing to look for a reason that Zero Killed his boss, yet t hey only wnated to know why the wife did it in a Jury of her peers. I felt that it showed a definate double standard in this story.

BERNICE BOBS HER HAIR

Bernice what a character! That is how I saw this story. I found the way that Fitsgerald portrayed the women of the upper class during the 1920's was very interesting. It made me wonder if women still work so hard to get noticed by men or do we just move so fast that all the fun of the game are lost forever.

TECHNOLOGY IN THE EARLY 1900'S

People were very afraid of the ever changing world of the industrial revolution. I found it very interesting that they were so fearful of technology yet when we finally accepted it we went full force into it to the point that we will never be able to live without it.

THE WORLD TRADE CENTER

Iwould have to say that this is the poem that caught me off guard the most. How ironic it was that this man spoke of the hatered that the people of New York had for this set of buildings that overpowered the beautiful buildings of the past until it was brutlaly harmed by terroist. I must ask How do you think He feels now?

I must say that I have haerd of this book several times, yet I had never read it. When I was in school we still read Inavhoe and A Tale of Two Cities. I know I am seriously dating myself now. However I must say that this book really caught my intrest. I really liked the story of this man and how he was so shady. He seems to have a colorful past full of stories of how he got his money and where he came from. I found it interesting even with all the money he had he chose to live on the lower end of the islands. He seemed to need to surround himself with people yet he stayed at a distance. The only thing I saw as familar to the other story of Bernice was the way the upper class lived thier life with no regards for others or their feelings. I had a problem with this Tom guy who had the nerve to go into his mistress's home and try to goat her husband into a deal about a car, while making plans to meet with his wife. I must say that I can't wait to see how it truns out. I hope that Gatsby is in the end as colorful as the stroies that set him up in the begining.
