What Huck lacked in formal education, he made up for with "people smarts" At the end of Chapter 19 Huck says "If I never learnt nothing else out of pap, I learnt that the best way to get along with his kind of people is to let them have their own way." This proved useful when he picked up the two men who claimed to be royalty. It didn't take long for Huck to see through them, but he continued to go along with their ways to keep the peace. In chapter 20 when Huck is asked if Jim is a runaway, he is quick to respond with such a story that he gets the duke to figure out a way to be able to run in the day time. It seems the more predicaments Huck gets into, the smarter he gets in figuring a way out.

That Huck is quick in thinking, if only he could remember the his name that he gives to people. One of my favorite parts of this novel so far is that Huck can't be scammed whick proves that he is a good scammer.
