"Oh George! we must all have faith. Mistress says that when all things go wrong to us, we must believe that heaven is doing the best." (Eliza)
This passage makes me think how strong Eliza was (mentally) to have the life she did and still believed in her faith. Throughout the play it seems that the women, both white and black, are stronger than the men, even though they still took a back seat to them.
