"The Weblog Handbook" by Rebecca Blood is another book used for class. This book intrduced the class to bloging. The book shows how to write in a blog, ways to personalize your blog, and she gives some do's and dont's to webloging. Some of the major things that you never do, and that will only start trouble are:
Never attack someone on your weblog. they will see it and it will be trouble.
Never complain. People are coming to your weblog to see something interesting they dont want to hear you complaining about everything.
One thing that you always, always must do is give credit where credit is due. If you use somone elses stuff to understand what you are writing about link to the page or say that you used this page.
I am glad that I know the rules now and the book has made me a better blogger.
Posted by VictoriaMara at October 14, 2004 4:04 PMJust this past summer, a few friends of mine (middle-schoolers, go figure), used their online journals to personally attack each other. It got pretty bad. I'm glad Blood's book covered things like blog etiquette, people definitely need to know the importance of it when they enter the world of blogging!
Posted by: Valerie at October 14, 2004 10:54 PMI know I have been the victim of attacks on the internet. People post things with out thinking about how it will effect everyone else around them. I feel that because it is in print it almost makes it worse because you cant forget about it and act like it wasnt said because it is right there.
