Portfolio 4

This semester has definitely been one filled with plenty of new information along with challenging text and ideas. With my term paper and digital artifact completed it is time to wrap up with my final portfolio.
Depth: In this section of my portfolio I demonstrate entries that scratch more than just the surface of certain ideas. In my entry Remixing and originality I reflect on my experience with Hayle’s text, My Mother is a Computer. I focus on the idea of originality, and whether remixing can be considered a way of making something new and original.
Interaction: This section of my portfolio is where I reach out to my classmates to share ideas and thoughts. I responded to a comment by Katy on my entry, Becoming more than Data, where I respond to why we hold our “avatars” or digital creations so important. On my earlier blog entry about what makes things original I had a brief discussion with Aja over the ideas of twisting ideas to make things new. Nothing is truly original anymore, but how we change or twist an old idea is what makes it new a surprising to viewers
Discussion: This section takes interaction deeper as we hold conversations with classmates. On Beth Anne’s blog I took part in a discussion over the who owns an idea.
Timeliness: This section is meant for blog entries that were submitted early or on time. These include: understanding Coding, Remixing and originality, and Becoming more than Data
Coverage: This section holds blog entries that do not fit anywhere else. These include: Coding Manipulation, and Hayles 3a.
