I completely agree when you say you're glad you took this class now. I also feel as if our class has a lot of diversity when it comes to opinions and ideas about the things that we read and discuss. I am glad that we are all in the same class, because I think our conversations compliment each other to make class not only interesting but also to raise new ideas and ways of thinking.

I am with you in feeling like I took this class a bit too late in my career. However, returning to the fundamentals has allowed me to double check everything I know. Also I am gaining nuggets of knowledge. The blogs keep my Senioritis is check, though I find it is a constant struggle while working 40 hours a week and auditioning every weekend.

I enjoyed the humor you incorporated into your portfolio! The "sleep deprived, caffeine induced minutes of existence" is definitely true since the semester is wrapping up. Interesting links as well. I found myself clicking on them just to find out what they were about.

I don't normally like sic-fi either, but I am really liking this book. There is something about it that had drawn me in, I really can't place what it is, but the story is interesting and keeps moving. Maybe it's the unknown things about the buggers and the people who speak at the beginning of each chapter?

Gah I absolutely hate that I've read the book before!! I think your idea about "what is real and who you can trust". I think it's a really important topic, and is becoming even more so with our ever changing laws and technology. Ender is also very clever, and I always think of him as just a small man since I would never categorize him as a child mentally, which is tragic to our society because we expect children to not have responsibilities until they've matured.

I also kind of got a "Matrix" feel from the beginning chapter. It's interesting how the monitor is never really explained. Although it plugs into the back of Ender's head, I can't help but wonder what it actually looks like. This kind of adds to the sci-fi feel. What exactly were they monitoring? Because we aren't given details, I have a feeling they were watching way more than what they were supposed to.....
