That's all very interesting because one of the favorite things to do with Zoo Tycoon and SIMS is to make bad things happen or kill the characters off. Do we do it because we want to see the negative courses of action without ourselves experiencing it. So that in a way we experience it, but we do not truly feel any of the hurt or suffer the consequences.

Yes, that's an important part of it... another chunk involves the importance of feedback loops, where the present state of a system depends on the past state, and will affect the future, which is very different from linear structure or a kind of multiple-choice that has only a few vaules.

I've a demo that I think will make this a bit clearer. Don't worry, we have plenty of time to work through Hayles.

Jess, what about comparing a well-designed magazine article with the same article as it appears in an app? Wired might be a good candidate. You could do a side-by-side comparison, perhaps not of the whole article, but of different elements. Capitalize on what you're learning!

I've been researching different methods of blogging and online writing, and I've found that I'm more motivated to blog if I think I could get paid for it. Yahoo! and HubPages offer programs where you can be paid based on the number of page views you receive. It also encourages writers to hone their skills, which they'd be doing anyway by writing, but being published and potentially republished on more impressive sites can make all the difference.

I agree that blogging is definitely challenging, especially when you've chosen to start a personal blog, but I think the feeling of knowing you have a place to share your ideas with others is a great feeling. Not only does it help to improve one's ability to write, but it gives you a presence one may not have had before.

I agree. This app does have educational possibilities. I think it has the potential of being a standard, in a sense, in teaching younger children to read. It utilizes new dimensions that cater to children who may learn from interaction.

I agree with your comment that the internet must be the greatest cauldron in the Universe. It is a space that goes beyond borders and regions and sometimes even language barriers. People from all over can gather and share their ideas, art, skills and beliefs. It has changed the world creating a culture of its own with communities and groups of all kinds.
