International Day of CommemorationOn January 29th, National Catholic Center for Holocaust Education observed the United Nations' International Day of Commemoration. This day, established in 2006, serves as a tribute to those who lost their lives in the Holocaust as well as their families. In keeping with this year's theme, "Remembrance and Beyond" the NCCHE set up an informational program in the second floor solarium. Throughout the day, the UN film, The Holocaust and United Nations Outreach Program, was played which included inspirational words from Kofi Annan, Yahuda Bauer, and Gerda Klein. The NCCHE handed out more than 300 remembrance bookmarks to students and faculty. They also placed resources from their library on display. The program attracted the attention of many passing students which led to questions about both the Holocaust Center and the purpose behind the day. Vanessa Vintinner, NCCHE programming intern, planned and carried out the event. January 29, 2007
