Exercise Three
You will no longer be taken advantage of whenever you are in a trying time. After a twelve year long debate, which included a federal staff investigation, hearings, and a court fight, the Federal Trade Commission passed a new rule to prevent funeral homes from ripping you off.

You no longer have to be worried about a funeral costing you a fortune. A twelve year battle has finally ended, with a new federal regulation that goes into effect Monday. The regulation requires funeral homes to provide a list of all the arrangements they offer, along wtih the cost, before a person is suckered into an agreement.

I think second person leads are better becasue they speak more directly to the readers and the readers may be able to relate better if they feel they personally are being spoken to.

Exercise Four
A meeting of pacifists experienced and unexpected happening on Tuesday when an equivalent of 150,000 tons of TNT was detonated. The incident occured 40 miles form them and was no accident. Despite protests of 450 physicians and activists, the detonation test of the nuclear weapon was still run. The weapon was set off 2000 feet below the surface of Pahute Mesa, in the Nevada desert.
