Friends is a really really great show!!! It's lots of fun to watch and I wish it woulld never end..

While I appreciate the comic performances of the actors (I only caught part of "smelly cat," but I immediately knew it would be a masterpiece, up there with "Soup Nazi" and Lucy on the chocolate factory assembly line), I'd have to second g chingwa's comment... these people have nothing to do but hang around together and obsess.

Seinfeld's "no hugs, no lessons" motto made Seinfeld watchable for me, since that show wasn't holding its obsessed, neurotic characters up as role models or heroes. Not so "Friends."

Okay, maybe I overanalyze things, but that's part of the fun of watching TV for me.

I tried to watch an entire episode a couple of times and just couldn't stomach the total inane crap.

I was reading a selection in my Seminar in Thinking and Writing text about the media and television.

_Friends_, they concluded, is one of the least racially integrated shows on television ("Virtual Integration" in _Rereading America_ p. 590).

I wonder: Is this one of the reasons for its success (white upper-middle class people in a retro cafe)? Does most of America relate to this? How about African-Americans? Do they watch _Friends_ regularly?

The selection indicated that "[_Friends_] attract[s] few black viewers." Is this still an accurate assumption?

Friends is the best ever show and never stops being funny. I wish it was not ending.
