TV journalism? How about a swift kick in the ass?

Censorship...It doesn't exist in American society, right? Freedom of speech, freedom of press, and all that good stuff. Pretty much everything we've been working towards for the last, oh...couple hundred years or so.

Censorship...It doesn't exist in American society, right? Freedom of speech, freedom of press, and all that good stuff. Pretty much everything we've been working towards for the last, oh...couple hundred years or so. Are you prepared to let all of that slide down the drain so soon after is has supposedly been acheived? If not, then mabye you should start writing a couple of well placed "letters to the editor" telling them where they can stuff their TV news. I know it can be argued that molding the news to be purely ratings oriented might not be looked at as a form of censorship, so don't waste my time with stupid comments and hate mail. If you have enough time to read this, and you feel that way, just go back to watching Oprah reruns and leave the rest of us alone. Those of us with and IQ above room temperature can see that any form of changing what really happened in order to please certain people is a form of censorship, even if it is done merely to keep the viewers attention. I don't know about you, but I personally don't want to be censored for the rest of my life. Do something about it. Write a letter.

Paul, I love you dearly, but why does every entry and every title of yours contain the word ass? Are you obsessed with the word? Do you like the way it sounds in sentences? Perhaps thats it because I will admit, the word butt just doesn't have as much force behind it as ass.

I like your honesty. Good post about the way TV news "censors" by conveniently leaving things out in order to put other things in for ratings. There's only so much "newshole" to fill and when they push out good stories for the sake of putting in fluff, we all are hurt in the process. Is Oprah to blame, or did you have some other specific example in mind? -- Dr. A.
