Get your heads out of your asses
This is ridiculus. I was reading through some posts today and i happened to notice Tammy Moon's post on censorship. I read through it, thought it was a decent oppinion piece, and just for fun, took a look at the comments.
"Tammy, the Seton Hill University Blog Review Board has asked me to delete this post out of sensitivty to students whose family are involved in the textbook censoring business..."
From his tone in the post, Dr. Jerz isn't too happy about this either.
This "Blog Review Board," in censoring an article about censorship, seems to either have an innate sense of irony, or issuffering from a disease sometimes known as stupid. If you think you can sensor someone's opinion just because it might be offensive to a certain group of people, then it's possible you've caught this disease too. My diagnosis: Stay off the internet. Thats the whole point of the war against censorship...to protect people's right to have an oppinion.
Worst of all, the B.R.B hasn't even tried to censor everything that would be offensive(as evidenced by pretty much of all my posts.) I've methodically offended pacifists, republicans, layman philosophers, and probably pretty much everyone who has read my entries. And yet Tammy is censored for something which might possibly be offenseive to students whose families write textbooks. Yeah, uh, i can see where that might affect one fiftieth of a percent of the nation. If you're going to censor people, at least be an equal opportunity dictator, OK Hitler? If anyone else thinks this is ridiculus, please comment, or even better, email Dr. Jerz with a request to forward it to the Board.

Yep, I am a stupid person sometimes. You probably caught me in one of my moments Paul, but just remember that -everyone- including you, can be stupid.
Loosen up.:-)
hmm...seems like somebody has a bad case of "stupid."
Heads out of asses....hmmmm. Sounds like a very surgical procedure.
Amy is right, and henceforth my personal motto for good cybercitizenship shall be: "If you think you MIGHT need a smiley, you probably DO."
When I learned about the misunderstanding in "Practices of Journalism" this morning at 11, just minutes after Paul posted his thoughts and Tammy added her comment, I immediately told everyone I felt bad about causing the confusion. We had a brief classrom discussion, and Paul and Tammy both seemed animated and happy. I felt that we brought face-to-face closure to the issue, so I moved the class on.
But Amy's post reminds me -- we form a single online blogging community, but only part of the online community was there for the face-to-face discussion. Without that bit of context, it does appear as if my 12:20 comment is belittling Tammy's rage, doesn't it? :( That would be a horrible thing for a teacher to do.
It seems like e-text leads us to underestimate the effect of one's own writing, while perhaps overattributing the motivations of somebody else.
This isn't the first misunderstanding that has taken place in the "comments" boxes on this site, and it won't be the last.
Yeah, I see the joke but I'm not laughing.
We're all writers and I think we can relate to each other in this blogging arena that when a writer produces a piece, especially if it's their personal opinion, that piece of writing is their baby.
It’s probably not a good idea to make a joke about someone’s baby (writing), possibility more so if the writer’s tone is serious.
Electronic text is often misinterpreted and the risk of hurting someone is greater when a joke is sent without an emoticon.
I think somebody owes Tammy an apology.
Perhaps you should have added a smiley, Dr. Jerz, although I thought "sucrose intolerance" was a dead giveaway.
The Seton Hill University Blogging Review Board has asked me to delete this comment, too.
Good call, Julie! I seriously debated whether to add a smileyface... perhaps I should have.
This is just a guess, but...it seems as if Tammy's post is still there, so I'm assuming that the "B.R.B." is just Jerz creating mischief. :)
I was just relaying what was said by a textbook writer not to offend any one I can't believe some one would think that I would be out to get anyone!!!!!
It makes me soooo mad...This is our weblogs we should be able to write anything we wish...its an opinion blog...don't let the "man" bring us down.
