TimesDispatch.com | Free-press ideal takes hit at HU

[Hamtpon University President JoAnn] Haysbert - aware that the potentially embarrassing piece would be seen by alumni and parents during the week's homecoming festivities - wanted her memorandum on the cafeteria matter on the front page.

What, specifically, are the First Amendment issues involved? Has the university president deprived her students of their first amendment rights? Discuss!

Ummm....yeah, one word:BULLSHIT! Excuse the bluntness, but its that little thing called freedom of speech, remember that?

Let me know if you want to start something underground here Tammy. I always am up for riling the administration.

Haysbert, reached Friday, was asked if it had been a mistake to pull the papers.

"I would say I learned a lot," was her reply. "And I hope that my students have as well."

This seems like a crock of bulls... the administration is just mad because the students have the guts to stand up to them. This is just like what the government is trying to do to us. Strip away every right we have until we are mindless slaves. Then they shall take complete control. Why not start at the college level and take away the freedom of speech and free press. Even thought most school papers are not out for monetary gain just to give their students a voice. Grrrr.
