utopian marriage

IS there a such thing as a perfect marriage-UTOPIA? In my personal experiences throughtout my family, I don't really agree that there is a perfect couple, or commitment. Don't get me wrong there are people who can make things work and everything seems so perfect at one moment in time. The difficult part is to find that mate to connect with.

Today, in my fun, an exciting seminar in Thinking and Writing, we discussed love, marriage, divorce and family issues. My group, which consisted of three girls, led the discussion with a game that we made up-Utopian Marriage. It was a combination of hangman, schrades, and pictionary. The game was a success and made the students value their own definitons through words of love and marriage. We made it known that the statistics of women in relationships, that they are more likely to commit and become attached more than males. Personally, I have been more attached in my previous relationships, than the males, so I feel that this is true. Also, we discussed family issues and reasons for breaking the family up. Many of the issues we discussed went back to difficulty relating and understanding one another. In all aspects, any relationship, weather tieing to family or a spouse, trust, honesty, understanding, and love are the key components to make things work. Check out the Essays by E.J. Graff, and Soto, in the Rereading America: Thinking and Writing Book.
