Dear Sir,
I am an artist attached to a national newspaper in Sri
Lanka.I Was working over 8 years for that paper
contribute my paper by drawing cartoons and doing
computer graphics.
Although I have extensive work experience as a
Sculptor and artist, I do not have an undergraduate
degree. I assume this disqualifies me from applying
to any graduate program. Also, as you are aware, I
work for a newspaper and it is a well known fact in
this part of the world that journalists and graphic
designers attached to newspapers are poorly paid. In
dollar terms, my monthly salary comes to less than
US$100.00.
As such, I have nothing by way of savings, and my
situation is made even more desperate since I am the
sole breadwinner in my family, and have to take care
of three younger siblings and my mother. This would,
I know, sound your typical sob-story from the Third
World. What can I say? It's true.
I would need to know from you that what are the
opportunities in your country to fulfil my
qualifications and upgrade my professional level.
Despite the lack of money I am seeking a scholarship
or something like that.
Please be kind enough to let me know at your earliest
convenience about such opportunities in your country
And you would be highly appreciated.
I am attaching herewith pictures that are
representative of the full range of my creations.

Thanks and Best regards,
Lalith senanayake

Hmm. Writing, eh? I'm interested. And I seem to have liked interning thus far ;)

How many of the scholarhsips do they give out annually?

Julie said:

I've seen it every year I've been here, so it should be around next year. They can place you at various papers around the state, so why wait?

Sure beats cashiering... >:-(

Amanda, I'll let you contact Mr. Pinksi for the details... all I know about it is what I've published. It does look very attractive, doesn't it?

Is this internship offered every year? I would love to do it next summer. Is the internship in Erie?
